Our Story

We began in 2012 as a one-shelf, student-run pantry. Now an Oregon Food Bank Partner Agency with robust support from PSU and private donors, we are still led by students, for students. Today we provide people enrolled at PSU with access to free groceries several thousand times per year in a welcoming, equitable, trauma-informed way.

The Portland State University Food Pantry is a Student Operated Service within Student Activities and Leadership Programs. Our operating budget is allocated by the Student Fee Committee, while many large and small donors help us buy additional food for students by giving to our PSU Foundation fund.
